AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Dubbed Most Complete CPU For Both Gaming And Professional Work

Dominates Competition In Gaming And Productivity!

Story Highlight
  • The Ryzen 9 9950X3D has been praised for its performance in gaming and productivity tasks.
  • The new CPU is significantly faster than the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and offers impressive efficiency.
  • It also runs cooler than anticipated, making it the ultimate CPU for the best of both worlds.

AMD’s Zen 5 lineup was initially considered quite disappointing, but things changed for the better once the Ryzen 7 9800X3D was released. The gaming giant has now returned with even more 3D V-Cache chips, namely the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D.

According to initial reviews, the latter is an incredible addition to the Zen 5 lineup, positing the Ryzen 9 9950X3D as the new king of CPUs.

Why it matters: The Ryzen 9 9950X3D marks a notable improvement over its predecessor, which often fell short of expectations in gaming results despite its undeniable strengths in productivity workloads.

As per Hardware Unboxed’s review, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D’s gaming performance is basically on par with that of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, with the former leading by just 1FPS at 1080p. However, compared to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, the chip is a whopping 31% faster.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D excels at productivity tasks, comfortably pulling ahead of both chips in results involving 7-Zip compression and Blender. Here, the chip was around 4-10% faster than the Core Ultra 9 285K and completely demolished the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

At the same time, AMD’s Zen 5 CPU is more power efficient than the Core Ultra 9 285K, drawing 203W of power across multi-threaded workloads in various games. According to Techpowerup, temperatures are also manageable, with the chip staying below 80° C with a Noctua NH-D15 cooler when running Blender.

The gaming temperatures are even lower, and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D stayed at around 68° C when running Cyberpunk 2077.

Unfortunately, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D costs an arm and a leg, making it inaccessible to most PC gamers.

The chip is incredible for those who can afford the ultra-high-end offerings from AMD, but the Ryzen 7 9800X3D remains an equally enticing option for consumers on a more modest budget.
