Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro Comparison Footage Shows Enhanced Reflections Capped At 30FPS

30FPS Cap Has Attracted Some Criticism!

Story Highlight
  • Remedy recently released an Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro comparison video with the base console.
  • The comparison shows really enhanced reflections but is locked at 30FPS.
  • The quality mode being capped at 30FPS has raised some eyebrows.

PlayStation 5 Pro has received a lot of criticism ever since it was announced. Fans didn’t really appreciate the price tag, and analysts concluded that it wouldn’t run GTA 6 at 60FPS

The console is good for those who want to enjoy playing games on a higher resolution and better framerates, and Alan Wake 2 official comparison video shows exactly that. The PS5 Pro footage shows better visuals and really enhances reflections.

Why it matters: Alan Wake 2 is still a technical marvel, as it gave PS5 a hard time at first. Even a PC with good specs had a hard time running this game, ideally.

First, the video shows quality mode comparisons, which allow you to easily see how great the reflections look. The ray-traced reflections are the main reason why the difference feels so great. However, the quality mode still runs at 30FPS, which has received a lot of criticism from the fans.

I thought the point of the PS5 Pro was to not have to choose between performance and quality, yet you show off the quality 30fps mode the most.

Other areas in the video also show great improvements, but they are mostly due to the ray-traced reflections. The PSSR really seems to be a game changer, as it has also been proven to be better than the FSR.

Despite Being Such A Great Game, Alan Wake 2 Is Still Not Profitable

At 0:56, you can see the clear difference between both, but the main question is: Is the upgrade just over reflections worth it? Fans don’t seem to think so.

If we’re going to start buying games purely for reflections then something is clearly wrong.

There are many more comments under the YouTube video, with one claiming $700 for slightly better reflections seems a joke. However, Remedy also revealed that the game will run at 4K 60FPS thanks to the PSSR.

The PSSR also seems to improve the image quality, so even if the Ray-Traced version is capped at 30FPS, there are other modes.

What do you think of the comparison between PS5 and PS5 Pro? Is it justified for the Pro version to be capped at 30FPS in Quality mode? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section or join the Tech4Gamers official forums
