- In October 2026, AMD captured over 81% of desktop processor sales on Amazon US by moving 28,200 units, outperforming Intel’s 6,500 units by more than four to one.
- Although the newer AM5 platform led sales with roughly 43.5%, the aging AM4 socket took second place with nearly 38%, easily beating out Intel’s LGA 1700 and LGA 1851 offerings.
- AMD’s Zen 3 lineup ranked as the most popular architecture overall, while the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D took the top two spots for individual bestselling CPUs.
The rising cost of PC hardware has made building or upgrading a computer increasingly difficult, particularly as memory prices continue to surge. However, not every component has become more expensive, and CPUs remain a relatively affordable upgrade option. For users with compatible motherboards, this could be an ideal time to boost performance without spending much.
Interestingly, despite AMD’s dominance in the US Amazon CPU market in October 2026, the older AM4 platform continues to attract strong demand, ranking as the second-best-selling platform, just behind AM5.

AMD continues to dominate desktop processor sales on Amazon US, according to data released by TechEpiphany. In October 2026, the company achieved an 81.27% market share by selling 28,200 Ryzen processors, whereas Intel registered 6,500 units, or 18.73%. With 34,700 processors sold overall, AMD sold more than four times as many CPUs as its competitor, proving once more why it is the better option.
It’s interesting to note that AM4 comes in second with 13,100 CPUs sold, or 37.75% of the total, while AM5 is the top platform with 15,100 units sold, or 43.52% of the total. Intel’s socket 1700, which sold 5,350 units, or 15.42% of the total, comes next, followed by socket 1851, which sold 950 units, or 2.74%.

Looking at processor families, we find an intriguing fact: Zen 3 leads with 27.38% of total sales, followed by Zen 5 X3D (21.04%), Intel Raptor Lake Refresh (12.97%), and Zen 5 (11.53%). It should come as no surprise that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which has sold 5,000 units and accounts for 14.41% of all CPU models, is the best-selling model. With 3,000 units (8.65%), the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the second best-selling model, followed by the Ryzen 7 5700X.
Next are the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 5 5500, which account for 5.76% of total sales and are the final Ryzen before the Intel Core i9-14900K breaks the streak. AMD then takes the lead once more, with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D making up 2.88% of all sales. It’s interesting to note that very old processors like the i7-3770, which have only 50 units sold, or just 0.14%, are at the bottom of the list of least-selling CPUs.
