- Valve’s Steam statistics recorded a peak of 833,921 concurrent Phantom Blade Zero players on November 1.
- The action RPG has drawn strong reviews and a huge PC audience, though concurrency doesn’t measure sales.
- The launch follows strong reported pre-order demand for S-GAME’s new action RPG.
Phantom Blade Zero peaked at 833,921 concurrent players on Steam on November 1, according to SteamDB statistics. That puts S-GAME’s action RPG ahead of other single-player games released in 2026 on Steam by peak concurrency. We had already highlighted its record-setting launch earlier in the week, before the latest Sunday surge.
That audience didn’t appear overnight. S-GAME previously said pre-orders had exceeded expectations, while combat-focused trailers and previews drew attention before the October 29 Steam release.

Concurrent players are people online at the same moment, not total sales or unique players. Still, an 833,921 peak is a major result for a new premium single-player IP and suggests substantial launch-week interest.
Unlike free-to-play multiplayer hits, Phantom Blade Zero is a paid, primarily single-player action RPG. Its launch-week peak makes it stand out among this year’s Steam releases, though it isn’t the platform’s all-time single-player record.
The game’s climb was gradual across its opening days: early reports put it above 700,000 concurrent players on October 29, with the peak climbing to 833,921 by November 1. The newer figure supersedes those launch-day snapshots.
Reviews were also strong before launch. Phantom Blade Zero also becomes the best-reviewed Chinese game ever; it dethrones Wukong & Genshin Impact with favorable Metacritic reception, giving the game another source of momentum alongside pre-orders and Steam interest.
Good reviews can support word of mouth, but the early peak alone can’t tell us how many copies were sold or whether players will stick around. Longer-term engagement and player feedback will offer a fuller picture.

For S-GAME, the achievement clearly shows that interest in its fast swordplay, cinematic bosses, and dark martial-arts setting translated into a large Steam audience at launch.
Valve’s count covers Steam players only, not everyone playing Phantom Blade Zero on PlayStation 5 or other PC storefronts. It’s a strong measure of Steam activity, but it shouldn’t be mistaken for the game’s total cross-platform audience.
The bigger test comes after launch week. Performance patches, player retention, and reception on other platforms will matter more for Phantom Blade Zero’s staying power than a single record-setting day.
For now, Phantom Blade Zero has paired a huge Steam opening with favorable critical reception. Whether that momentum lasts will depend on players’ experience beyond the first weekend.
