Arkane Lyon Could Be Next On The Chopping Block After Ninja Theory!

Story Highlight
  • Arkane Lyon could be shut down if Microsoft fails to find a buyer.
  • The studio is said to have until November 13 before Xbox makes a final call.
  • Marvel’s Blade may be left unfinished if the team is unable to find a buyer before then.

Xbox recently shut down Ninja Theory after struggling to find a buyer for the studio. As part of Asha Sharma’s restructuring, Arkane Lyon is currently undergoing a similar situation.

Reports now reveal that Xbox has yet to find a buyer for the team behind Dishonored, meaning that it could be shut down in a similar manner.

Why it matters: Arkane Lyon is currently working on Marvel’s Blade, so the project is also in jeopardy due to the current circumstances.

Marvel’s Blade Might Never Make It Out of Development

As reported by Le Monde, Xbox has given Arkane Lyon until November 13 to find a suitable buyer. It is also said that there are a few suitable buyers lined up, but the situation ultimately appears grim due to the nearing deadline.

The report claims that Arkane Lyon is doing well, but the studio still faces the threat of being shut down soon. Of course, this would also mean the cancellation of Marvel’s Blade, a game Arkane Lyon has been working on for many years now.

Even if the studio is sold to another buyer, there’s no guarantee Marvel’s Blade will survive the transition. However, should a purchase not go through, both the game and the team will likely be gone for good.

With the November 13 deadline now closer than ever, it will be interesting to see what happens with Arkane Lyon moving forward. Note that the team already lost Arkane Austin a few years ago, so Arkane Lyon’s potential closure would mark the end of an amazing developer.
