- GTA 6’s duo of protagonists will evoke the same deep emotions in players as Arthur Morgan did.
- Jason and Lucia will have a Bonnie and Clyde-like relationship that grows based on how players approach it.
- The game will also have quieter moments like RDR2, which will only help players enjoy the intense bits more.
Arthur Morgan is one of the best-written protagonists in media, leaving players emotionally invested in his character growth. Fans were concerned GTA 6 may not have the same depth, especially when it comes to Jason, but Rockstar has quickly shot these worries down.
Rockstar North’s co-head Rob Nelson says GTA 6’s Jason and Lucia have been written to stir the same emotions in players as Arthur Morgan. The company has brought the same story depth to the next GTA experience from RDR2.
Why it matters: Red Dead Redemption became one of the most popular titles precisely because of Arthur Morgan’s deep character growth over the course of the game. If GTA 6 aims for a similar emotional connection with its protagonists, then we might be in for a similar treat.

In an interview with TroisCouleurs, Rob Nelson explains that RDR2’s world and story depth will be present in GTA 6, alongside the sort of emotional connection people built up with Arthur Morgan.
We wanted to take the depth that we were able to add into the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the ability to interact with the world in a much more significant way, but then also this sort of emotional connection that people end up having with Arthur.

Rockstar is going about this by creating an in-depth and dynamic Bonnie and Clyde-like relationship between Jason and Lucia. They will spend a lot of time growing together in story missions.
Their dynamic can also improve or worsen based on how players approach their relationship.

The protagonists’ actions would be more impactful than in GTA 5, where the characters at most just tolerated each other. Jason and Lucia can also go out on dates and do other activities together, which may even improve how well they work together in missions.
