- Modern Warfare 4 has reached the top of Steam’s global top sellers chart.
- The title is experiencing a surge in player interest due to its ongoing beta.
- Modern Warfare 4 is shaping up to be a better-performing title than last year’s Black Ops 7.
Modern Warfare 4’s beta has seen its fair share of criticism already, but Activision and Infinity Ward appear to have gotten a lot right with the game. Following the arrival of the open beta, the first-person shooter has now topped Steam’s best-sellers charts.
Why it matters: A lot is riding on Modern Warfare 4. The game is ditching older hardware and launching on the Nintendo Switch 2, making it among the most exciting titles from the series in recent memory.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has moved into the top spot on Steam’s global top sellers list ahead of launch. This ranking suggests pre-orders for the game have picked up the pace, especially since reports hinted it was being outmatched by Gears of War: E-Day not too long ago.
The ranking is also interesting, since it hints at a bigger launch for Modern Warfare 4 than last year’s Black Ops 7. Call of Duty’s recent Modern Warfare titles have been more well-received than Black Ops in recent years anyhow, and Modern Warfare 4 seems to be continuing this trend.
In the days to come, Infinity Ward will also add a campaign mission to expand the beta. This could trigger further interest from curious players, setting the stage for even more pre-orders ahead of Modern Warfare 4’s release.

The game officially launches on October 23, so the fact that it is already at the top of Steam’s best-sellers list is a great sign for the upcoming release.
