Noctua and Carbice Partner to Bring Advanced Thermal Pads to DIY PCs

A New Alternative to Thermal Paste for Ryzen CPUs!

[Press Release] Noctua and Carbice have announced a long-term partnership aimed at bringing advanced carbon nanotube thermal interface technology to the DIY PC market. Under the agreement, Noctua will exclusively distribute Carbice thermal pads for retail customers while both companies collaborate on future product development.

Carbice’s thermal pads use vertically-aligned carbon nanotubes that differ from traditional thermal paste and standard thermal pads. While conventional solutions can degrade over time due to pump-out, cracking, and delamination, Carbice claims its pads improve heat transfer performance through repeated thermal cycles by gradually conforming to microscopic surface imperfections.

The technology has already been used in demanding industries such as aerospace, satellites, and critical infrastructure, where long-term reliability is essential. For PC users, this means a thermal interface solution designed to deliver consistent performance for years without requiring reapplication.

Unlike many graphite-based thermal pads, Carbice pads feature an aluminum backbone and a nanoscale polymer coating. This design improves durability, makes installation easier, and prevents the pad from slipping during mounting.

The first product from the partnership is the NT-CP1 AM5/4, a thermal pad specifically optimized for AMD Ryzen processors on both AM5 and AM4 platforms. It is designed to provide a clean, maintenance-free alternative to thermal paste while maintaining strong long-term cooling performance.

Noctua will showcase the NT-CP1 AM5/4 at Computex Taipei 2026, with retail availability currently scheduled for September 2026.
