Could Chinese Manufacturers Be The Key to Resolving the Memory Crisis?

Story Highlight
  • Corsair has now started using the China-made DRAM in its DDR5 memory modules.
  • CXMT DRAMs were spotted in their memory, which points to Chinese manufacturers going global.
  • For context, CXMT and YMTC are huge chip manufacturers with massive production capabilities.

As the memory crisis continues, things aren’t looking the best for PC gamers. The shortage persists, and prices are still soaring. Chinese manufacturers have started making their own DRAMs in bulk, and they are now going global.

Recently, it was reported that Corsair has started using CXMT DRAM for its DDR5 RAM modules, suggesting that Chinese manufacturers have now entered the global market and could help ease the shortage.

Why it matters: For the longest time, many believed that once Chinese manufacturers entered the global market, they could, in theory, resolve the supply issue, considering they have massive production capabilities.

As spotted by a user on X, Corsair DDR5 RAM kits have now started using CXMT DRAM modules. For context, the company, along with YMTC, is one of the biggest DRAM and NAND manufacturers in China.

Reports of major PC manufacturers considering utilizing the Chinese-made chips had been circulating for quite a while now, and it seems that it has now happened. Corsair is a huge name, and others could follow too.

The company is one of the largest chip makers in the Chinese region

Now, this doesn’t seem to have had an immediate impact on the prices, considering DDR5 prices are still skyrocketing, but this is a bright sign, as it could bring more Chinese companies to global markets, which could resolve the issues.
