Sucker Punch Ends Support For Ghost Of Yotei’s Online Multiplayer Mode Just Two Months After Launch

Expert Verified By

The Raid Challenge Is Set To Be The Last Major Update For Co-op.

Story Highlight
  • Sucker Punch has no major updates planned for Ghost of Yotei Legends after the Raid challenge.
  • Fans expressed disappointment as the co-op mode only launched two months ago.
  • In contrast, Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer received updates for more than a year.

Despite the initial negativity surrounding the game, Ghost of Yotei has turned out to be very successful for Sony. The game topped charts in multiple countries and sold faster than Ghost of Tsushima in the same period, reaching 3.3 million copies sold after just one month.

The Sucker Punch title didn’t get a boost from PC like its predecessor, but the developer has continued to support Ghost of Yotei with major updates, including free online co-op. However, just two months after its launch, Sucker Punch is ending support for the Legends multiplayer mode.

Why it matters: Considering how Ghost of Tsushima’s online section was supported for over a year, this is a disappointing decision from Sucker Punch.

Ghost of Yotei Legends
The Legends co-op mode only launched two months ago.

On the PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch announced that the Raid challenge for Ghost of Yotei: Legends is the last major update planned for the multiplayer. Lead designer Darren Bridges stated that players have already reached the endgame of the online co-op mode, even though it was released only two months ago on March 11, 2026.

The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends.

The Raid update for Ghost of Yotei: legends pits you against the final two members of the supernatural Yotei Six, The Dragon and Lord Saito. Before you face off against the bosses, however, the co-op mode has you face warrior and labyrinth strongholds to prepare you for the showdown.

Fans expressed disappointment in the comment section, saying it’s a major letdown that there won’t be any new maps or game modes despite co-op only launching in March. The exclusion of the Rivals challenge from Ghost of Yotei also didn’t sit well with players, as it was a fan-favorite in the predecessor.

To put the timeline into perspective, Ghost of Tsushima’s online co-op mode received updates until early 2022 after launching in October 2020. Sucker Punch added a Rivals mode and much more that has been left out of the Ghost of Yotei: Legends roadmap.
