- Last week, Intel announced that it will be increasing its CPU prices by around 10%.
- AMD is reportedly set to follow suit, with CPU prices expected to increase by 15%.
- This makes the overall PC building situation even worse for general consumers.
Amid the ongoing memory crisis, almost every PC component is now at its highest price in a very long time. Recently, Intel announced a 10% hike in its CPUs, and more bad news follows, as its competitor is set to do the same thing.
After Intel, a new report claims that AMD is also looking to increase CPU prices by 15% starting from April. Until now, the prices could still be found somewhere around MSRP, but now, they will receive a massive bump.
Why it matters: With RAM, SSD, and GPU prices already hovering way above their MSRPs, CPUs will see a similar trend, making them yet another PC component that could slip past the buying power of general consumers.

Nikkei Asia has reported that AMD CPUs will receive a 15% price hike, starting from April. As the demand for server CPUs increases, companies are neglecting the consumer market and going all in with the data center demand.
The shifting focus has led to a lesser CPU supply for consumers, which is leading to the upcoming price hike. What used to be a short wait from order to CPU shipment has now stretched to a process lasting 8-12 weeks.

The report further notes that the period between April and June would be the worst for the supply, and the prices will be at their highest. This makes the overall situation even worse for gamers, who were looking to build a PC soon.
