Introduces Game Cards and A Much Cleaner UI!

Story Highlight
  • Microsoft announced that the Xbox Mode will replace the full-screen mode at GDC.
  • The update has finally started rolling out, bringing in a fresh new user interface.
  • It also features some new features like Game Cards and improved performance.

Microsoft first announced that the Xbox mode would replace the already present full-screen mode at the recent GDC. It seems that the new software is now ready, as Microsoft prepares to launch its next step towards major PC integration.

The Xbox mode appears to be rolling out for PC, as users note that the full-screen experience now says ‘Xbox Mode’, instead of Xbox Full Screen as it used to. This aims to make Xbox/PC integration more accessible.

Why it matters: This is Microsoft’s answer to Steam’s Big Picture Mode, albeit they already had a similar thing last year. However, the new revamped UI does look like a better implementation.

Xbox Mode has started rolling out for PC users

Journalist Tom Warren detected that the Xbox Full Screen Experience has been rebranded to Xbox Mode in the latest update. The mode introduces a couple of new nifty features along with the revamped UI.

It has a new feature called Game Cards that shows a lot of information. You will be able to see your Cloud save sync for titles you’ve played on your consoles. So, it makes the link between Xbox and PC more coherent.

Anyhow, many still don’t really prefer using the Xbox app. It has all sorts of issues, from being sluggish to often crashing, and not a good overall experience. Microsoft would hope that the revamp would entice the users.
