- Take-Two boss confirms that a GTA 6 physical copy will be available on launch.
- The game is on track for a November 19th release later this year.
- Marketing will kick off in the summertime.
Recently, a report went viral about GTA 6, suggesting that Rockstar would skip a physical launch to avoid leaks and spoilers.
However, that won’t be the case, as Take-Two’s boss has debunked the rumor, saying both physical and digital versions of the game will be available on launch.
Why it matters: Physical copies are the only means by which gamers can retain true ownership of video games, as evidenced by recent moves by publishers revoking digital games’ licenses.

Variety spoke with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick about the company’s upcoming plans, and of course, that included GTA 6. Addressing the ongoing concerns about the absence of GTA 6 physical copies at launch, the CEO stated:
That’s not the plan
Clearly, skipping a physical release would’ve done them more harm than good, as it risks missing out on potential sales, and Take-Two wouldn’t want that, especially after allocating a budget of more than $1 billion for the game.

Once again, expect a horde of gamers lining up at retail stores before GTA 6 launches later this year, eager to get their hands on a physical copy, evoking nostalgia like in the early 2000s when digital games weren’t the norm.
Further adding, Take-Two held its earnings call today, where it confirmed plans to stick with the current November 19th, 2026 release date for GTA 6. Furthermore, the game’s marketing is also expected to kick off in the summer.
