Gamers Are Furious With Capcom For Adding Denuvo To Pragmata!

Story Highlight
  • Capcom’s new IP, Pragmata, is facing significant backlash from PC gamers for relying on Denuvo.
  • The anti-cheat is nefarious for ruining performance in games, which has made gamers upset with Capcom.
  • Many gamers have decided not to buy the game until Denuvo is removed.

Many gamers are looking forward to Capcom’s all-new sci-fi franchise, Pragmata, an action-adventure experience that explores two unique protagonists as they traverse a cold lunar research station. It also had an amazing showing at The Game Awards with a new trailer.

However, the entry is already catching negative media attention. New developments confirm that Pragmata is indeed relying on Denuvo, which has caused a significant backlash among gamers who dislike the anti-cheat since it allegedly ruins performance in games.

Why it matters: Pragmata relying on Denuvo anti-cheat has brought a lot of backlash, as gamers argue it ruins performance. Many initially interested in the project have now decided to back out.

As shown by SteamDB, the controversial Denuvo was recently introduced to Pragmata on Steam, with gamers in various online forums discussing its sudden introduction.

Many users are quite upset with Capcom for still using the anti-cheat since Monster Hunter Wilds’ poor performance was sometimes attributed to its use of Denuvo.

Therefore, a large group has decided to ignore the game entirely, with a bunch only willing to buy after gamers and reviewers test its post-launch performance. On a good side note, the game’s demo is said to have incredible optimization.

Others argue that Capcom is already known for using Denuvo in all its games, but relying on the anti-cheat for a new IP that needs exposure may not be the best move.

Many of the game previews in the past praised the gameplay and called the delays worthwhile, so we will find out how well the game holds up in terms of performance despite using Denuvo on Steam.

Do you think Capcom’s Pragmata deserves facing backlash for adding the controversial anti-cheat system, or is this boycott an overreaction from some gamers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
