- EA promises up to 120FPS for Battlefield 6 on consoles.
- Furthermore, a free DLC titled ‘Covert Operations’ is also planned post-launch.
- Season 1 will also mark the return of the Battle Royale mode, Firestorm.
Only 4 days till Battlefield 6 releases, and it seems like EA has a few more surprises for fans up its sleeves.
The upcoming military FPS will also feature 120 FPS on select modes, possibly only for Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro consoles. Furthermore, the game is also set to receive a free DLC titled ‘Covert Operations’ further down the line.
Why it matters: EA has a lot to prove to win back Battlefield fans after the last two rough releases. A good port and free DLC aim to win the masses’ favor, marking a significant step towards bringing the franchise back to its peak.
In performance mode, the Xbox Series X, PS5, and PS5 Pro support a 120Hz mode, allowing these consoles to output up to 120FPS. However, on the Xbox Series S, the FPS is capped at 60 FPS on a 1080p display.
Earlier, Battlefield 6 developers also credited the Xbox Series S for making the game better as a whole, thanks to specific optimizations made on the budget console.
Going back to the free DLC, Cover Operations sounds like a new game mode, potentially. It’s unknown what it’ll be like, but expect a proper look once Season 1 starts.
Battlefield 6 releases on 10th October, or 10 days from now. Season 1 for the game will start on October 28th, and the preview already showcases three new maps, modes, and additional weaponry.
The rumored Firestorm Battle Royale mode from Battlefield 5 is also expected to return with Season 1 and will be a free-to-play mode regardless of whether players own the base Battlefield 6 game or not.
Battlefield 6 has already secured over 1.7 million pre-orders and is projected to sell 5 million units within its first week of launch. Still, it’s far from the expected 100 million player mark that EA executives anticipate. However, the free-to-play Battle Royale mode will certainly help bridge that gap.
