- Reviews for Cronos: The New Dawn are in, and the overall reception has been positive.
- The game holds an average score of 80 on Metacritic, a solid achievement for Bloober Team’s first original IP.

Cronos: The New Dawn has been met with a wave of positive reception since its initial reveal, largely thanks to Bloober Team’s impressive work on the Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Expectations for Bloober Team were initially quite low leading up to the Silent Hill 2 Remake, but that perception shifted dramatically after its successful launch. Now, all eyes are on the studio’s next project, Cronos: The New Dawn, which is set to release soon, and early reviews are already in.
The game has earned a score of 79 on Metacritic, which is respectable, especially for a brand-new IP.
Why it matters: While some fans may have hoped for a higher rating, a 79 is far from disappointing and speaks to the potential of this new franchise.
The following are some of the review scores of the upcoming title by Bloober Team:
- Gamereactor UK – 9/10
- DualShockers – 9/10
- Checkpoint Gaming – 8.5/10
- Game Informer – 7.8/10
- GamesRadar+ – 7/10
- IGN – 7/10
- TechRadar Gaming – 6/10
This game isn’t quite like Silent Hill 2 Remake, which was based on an already-established classic. While Bloober Team did an outstanding job bringing that title back to life, it wasn’t their original creation.
However, Cronos: The New Dawn is a different story. It’s a completely original concept developed from the ground up by Bloober Team, and judging by the reception so far, it seems to have paid off.
Some reviews have compared it to the likes of Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, and Silent Hill 2. So, if you love the aforementioned titles, you are likely to have a good time with this game.
While the game has received plenty of praise, it’s by no means perfect. Some reviewers have pointed out that the combat feels a bit clunky, exploration can be somewhat predictable, and shooting zombie mutants tends to get repetitive over time.
That said, Bloober Team has once again delivered a strong experience. Cronos: The New Dawn launches on September 5 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2. However, players who purchased the Deluxe Edition will gain early access and can start playing on September 3.
What are your thoughts on Cronos: The New Dawn receiving a 78 on Metacritic? Was it in line with your expectations? Let us know in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forums.
