Night City Likely To Return As Well!

Story Highlight
  • Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is currently in development.
  • Mike Pondsmith has recently confirmed that there will be a new city in the title.
  • He further confirms that Night City is likely to return as well.

While the CPDR is currently focused on developing The Witcher 4, which is most likely in its final stages, the developers are also working on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

The sequel is currently named Project Orion and is being developed by 12% of the CPDR workforce. While not much has been revealed about the title, a recent leak suggests a new city in the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Why it matters: Though many speculated that Night City would not return in the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, it has also been confirmed to be part of the title.

During a recent live broadcast on the TVGry channel, Mike Pondsmith discussed his involvement in the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and the cities players will explore in the title.

There’s another city we visit – Night City is still there. I remember looking at it and thinking, “yeah, I get the vibe you’re going for and it works; it doesn’t feel like Blade Runner, it’s more like Chicago gone wrong.

-Mike Pondsmith

Although he doesn’t reveal much about the city, it appears to be giving Chicago vibes. He further confirms that Night City will still be there, which means players will have a much bigger place to explore in the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Is Still Many Years Away

Not too long ago, a recent job listing also suggested that the title would offer the most realistic NPC crowds. All this recent information makes Cyberpunk 2077 one of the most anticipated titles, and CDPR has set the expectations high once again.

Since the title is still many years away from its release, and many changes could be made before its launch, it’s best not to get too excited.

Nonetheless, do you think the sequel of Cyberpunk 2077 wil be a more successful launch for CDPR than the base game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, or join the Tech4Gamers forum.
