- An insider claims that Fable was delayed until next year so it can launch for PS5 on day one.
- The game will also be polished and come out simultaneously on all platforms, further confirming it’s not an exclusive.
- However, other rumors have clarified that the game was delayed because of major reworks and overhauls.
Fable was one of the most anticipated games set to launch later this year, so fans were quite upset to learn that the RPG was delayed to 2026. While Xbox did not specify why the reboot needs more time, rumors have painted quite an interesting picture.
A highly regarded industry insider, NateTheHate, has clarified that Fable might have been delayed so it can launch for PS5 on day one. The game is expected to come out simultaneously on all platforms now.
Why it matters: Ever since Fable’s delay to 2026 was officially announced, multiple insiders have come forward with convincing claims regarding the reason. Regardless, Xbox is quite impressed with the game’s progress.
The insider on the ResetEra forum says that Xbox wants to release it on PS5 alongside Series X|S and PC, as well as polish it in the meantime. And since the PS5 launch was always meant for 2026, Xbox might have delayed it to satisfy its multiplatform strategy.
This similar stance has also been previously touted by a relatively unknown insider, @SmtihAlex15630, who claimed Fable was delayed to align its release date with the PS5. However, there have been other reports that have suggested Fable is in a much dire situation.
Another credible insider recently said that many technical aspects of the RPG are being overhauled, including the progression system.
Since there are conflicting but equally interesting reports from multiple insiders, it is best to view the delay with cautious optimism. Regardless, Fable will become a much better RPG with the 2026 launch.
