- Warhorse Studios previously feared competing against Assassin’s Creed Shadows in February releases
- However, after such a strong launch and 250k concurrent players, they’re much more confident in their release.
- They now aim to surpass 300k concurrent players, reaching Starfield’s level of player count.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has become the talk of the town for such a massive release for a former indie studio. Despite being confident in their release, Warhorse Studios were quite nervous going against Asassin’s Creed Shadows in a February launch before the game was delayed.
However, Warhorse Studio is even more optimistic with the release after such a strong launch with critical acclaim and high sales. They now expect the game to reach the player count that Starfield had.
Why it matters: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has set the bar high for AAA releases, and for a former indie studio to beat a AAA game with over $200 Million budget would be a huge achievement.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s player count has only increased with each day. Previously, we reported the game hitting 230k concurrent players on the weekend, and now it has surpassed the 250k mark.
It’s safe to expect that the game will hit the 300k player mark by this weekend or, if the momentum continues, possibly even earlier. Starfield has an all-time high of 330k player count, and hitting that number seems achievable now.
Despite a massive gap in budget and marketing, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to outshine Starfield in every way.
If anything, Bethesda needs to go all out with The Elder Scrolls 6, especially after Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 set the bar high for Medieval RPGs and, coming from the failure that Starfield was.
