With almost four years since the last title’s release, EA is taking its time and resources to develop Battlefield 6. Yesterday, pre-alpha footage showing 10 seconds of gameplay was released, revealing the first look at the upcoming FPS.
EA also introduced Battlefield Labs, a playtesting program for the game that will help shape its development. The first sign-up for the playtest is now available, and it also reveals the required system configuration to run the game.
From what it seems, Battlefield 6 is looking to be an optimized port for PC, requiring just an RTX 3060Ti and 16GB RAM as the recommended system requirement.
Why it matters: Battlefield games are notorious for being unforgiving on even the most powerful rigs. However, Battlefield 6 looks optimised, and EA is learning from its past mistakes.
Moreover, the minimum system requirements state that only an RTX 2060 is needed, along with the exact 16GB RAM requirement and 30 GB of SSD space.
While it’s just a playtest for now, the official system requirements will be revealed in the coming months before its release. The playtests are only open to players from NA and Europe, but more regions will be added with time.
With ongoing announcements and updates following Battlefield Labs, it’s speculated that Battlefield 6 will launch in a much better state than its predecessors, which were plagued by technical issues and bugs.
However, only time will tell if this is true. Early Battlefield news has always been promising, with a different picture painted at launch.
