The Bugs Began Because of Microsoft's Faulty Windows Update!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins has been review bombed on Steam recently after getting game-breaking bugs.
  • The latest Microsoft 24H2 Windows 11 update is the cause behind Origins becoming unplayable for many players.
  • The only way to play and avoid getting the game bricked is to roll back Windows 11 to an earlier version.

Despite the change in formula, Assassin’s Creed Origins is one of the most popular entries in the franchise. It innovated the series to new horizons and adopted many RPG mechanics, splitting fans into two groups.

However, this 7-year-old game has now been review-bombed on Steam after enjoying positive reviews in the past. The sudden bombardment is due to the game becoming unplayable for many players because of bugs like black screens, crashes, and freezes.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Origins getting bricked because of a Windows update is another massive blow to the franchise’s reputation, which has already suffered because of many recent controversies.

Ubisoft Not Addressing The Issue
Ubisoft Has Not Addressed The Issue For A Long Time Now | Source: Steam

Ubisoft is yet again under fire, as many reviews have suggested the developer has been aware of these issues but hasn’t fixed them yet. Microsoft is also to be blamed, as these issues started due to the 23H2 update.

These negative reviews began when the game went on sale for 90% during the holiday season. Many new players poured into the popular Ubisoft experience, only to meet with game-breaking bugs that rendered the title useless.

The only good workaround for this dilemma is for users to roll back to the Windows 23H2 update, which will completely remove these glitches from Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Overall, the latest Microsoft shenanigans have affected many other titles, including Cyberpunk 2077, Apex Legends, COD: MW2, and Forza Horizon 5.
