The Best Gaming Option In The Market?

Story Highlight
  • AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D is now considered the best gaming CPU, outshining Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K and competing with Intel’s top models.
  • The Ryzen 9000 series excels in gaming but lacks multi-threading performance.
  • Due to high demand, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is sold out, with scalped prices reaching $700.

In its most recent competitive guide, the Red Team seems quite confident in showcasing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D as the best gaming CPU currently available.

Why it matters: The Ryzen 7 9800X3D‘s strong performance positions AMD as a serious contender in the gaming CPU market, but its scarcity and inflated prices reflect broader challenges in availability.

With the Core Ultra 9 285K falling well short of its predecessors, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is currently mentioned in the competitive guide as the rival to Intel’s top gaming CPUs, the Core i9-14900KS and the Core i9-14900K.

The Ryzen 9 9950X is positioned against the Core i9-14900K and Core i9-13900KS, while the Ryzen 9 9900X is positioned against the Core i9-14900K and Core i9-13900K. The Ryzen 7 9700X, on the other hand, is positioned against the Core i7 14700K and i7-13700K.

While the new Ryzen 9000 lineup is indeed better in games, it lacks multi-threading performance. However, AMD’s alleged competitive guide focuses on only one aspect of the story, mainly gaming.

Furthermore, due to increased demand, the 9800X3D is currently sold out everywhere. As a result, some shops have either completely removed the processor from their listings or switched to pre-ordering.

That said, other variants in the Ryzen 9000 series have seen several discounts since launch. Retailers like Microcenter, Amazon, and Newegg are offering further discounts on top of AMD’s reduced prices, making them a compelling option for new users.
