However, a reliable insider has reiterated his statement and revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ pre-orders are going strong despite all the controversy.
Why it matters: Ever since its reveal, Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed has been walking on thin ice. It has faced controversies due to historical inaccuracies, forced inclusivity, and more.
Industry insider Tom Henderson, replying to a comment on Twitter, stated that pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are going strong. He also shared the same statement a few months before most of the controversy gained traction.
This nullifies an earlier report claiming that pre-orders have been quite disappointing so far. These low figures were already quite unbelievable, and Henderson’s statement is additional proof.
Perhaps the controversy is working in Ubisoft’s favor and giving this RPG more exposure. Most people are unlikely to give much thought to Yasuke’s status as a samurai or the small details of Japanese culture depicted in the game.
Because Star Wars Outlaws has disappointed the gaming giant, it will look forward to better results from the biggest franchise. All the pressure is on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, so an extensive marketing campaign could kick off very soon to guarantee a strong launch.
