Elden Ring At 1st Place; Expansion At 2nd!

Story Highlight
  • Shadow of The Erdtree is about to be released in just three days.
  • The excitement is currently at an all-time high, which has caused many new players to join the adventure.
  • Both Elden Ring and its expansion are now dominating Steam’s best-seller charts.

The buzz surrounding Elden Ring has increased so much that it seems like we are experiencing its release for the first time in 2022. Everyone is again talking about this game due to its upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

Fans have also grown more excited due to the leaks, as FroSoftware has managed to exceed the expectations. Don’t worry, we won’t spoil anything, but you are in for one exciting experience.

Adding to this anticipation, Elden Ring and Shadow of The Erdtree are in the top positions for best-selling games on Steam.

Why it matters: Shadow of the Erdtree has led to new sales for Elden Ring, opening up this FromSoftware title to a whole new audience.

As seen in the image above, Elden Ring is currently enjoying the top spot for best-selling games, and its expansion is second. Black Myth: Wukong, another highly anticipated release, is in the third spot.

It should be noted that this position stands regardless of free-to-play titles on the list. This further proves how excited fans are for this release, with even major streamers like Kai Cenat recently joining in.

Free-to-play games like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG Battlegrounds, and Destiny are in 3rd, 4th, and 5th place, respectively. This just shows how big Elden Ring has become in the short span of two years.

This level of excitement for an expansion is seldom seen in the industry.

It can compared to the buzz surrounding Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty, which was a huge deal already. Many new players have joined the game, and the ones who are experienced are helping them beat Mohg, Lord of Blood.

Elden Ring has also sold 25 million copies ahead of this expansion, but we expect another major sales update from the studio shortly after this release.
