PlayStation & Xbox Will Fire On All Cylinders In 2025!

Story Highlight
  • PlayStation reportedly has various big games planned for 2025.
  • These projects exclude third-party exclusives like Rise of the Ronin.
  • Developers like Insomniac and Sucker Punch have likely reached the end of production for major projects.

Xbox just wrapped up the biggest showcase of 2024 yesterday, and many fans are now hoping to see something similar from PlayStation.

While various developers under the PlayStation Studios umbrella are working on high-quality games, the gaming giant has not shared anything with the fans. However, an insider now hints at multiple big PlayStation games for 2025.

Why it matters: PlayStation has already confirmed that it will not have any major first-party titles for 2024, so this update is encouraging for PS5 and PS4 owners.

As reported by the reliable Shinobi602, various big games from PlayStation are coming next year. He also stated that this list does not include Death Stranding 2.

There’s a few big ones I know of set for next year.

The insider also clarified that he referred to games from Sony’s first-party teams. Therefore, third-party exclusives like Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade are excluded, even though the latter was published by Sony.

One game that is more or less confirmed to launch in 2025 is Ghost of Tsushima 2. Earlier leaks suggest that Insomniac’s standalone Venom project will likely arrive in the same year, too.

This makes two very big PlayStation releases. However, Sony may have even more surprises up its sleeve. Perhaps Bungie’s Marathon and the Horizon Multiplayer project will also be launched in 2025.

PlayStation Did Not Have Any Major Games From Internal Studios This Year

Looking at Xbox’s slate for 2025, PlayStation may find it hard to compete.

Between Doom: The Dark Ages, Fable, and more, the gaming giant seems to have a huge lineup prepared for next year. Fortunately for PS5 owners, a few of those big hitters will also be available on the PS5.

PlayStation is also rumored to host a showcase at some point in 2024. Therefore, the gaming giant could show off some of these projects in September.
