Story Highlight

  • This update could pave the way for even more FSR 3-supported games in the future.

According to Ascendant Studios, the much anticipated Immortals of Aveum update, which adds support for AMD FSR 3 on consoles, has finally been released. This is the first console game to use any frame-generating technology.

The latest version of Immortals of Aveum, version 1.0.6.4, brings console support for AMD’s FSR 3 technology.

Immortals of Aveum Will Greatly Benefit From Improved Frame Rate

To provide a fluid experience in compatible games, AMD FSR 3 combines frame generation with AMD temporal upscaling technology to produce more high-quality frames. This technique uses temporal game data, such as motion vectors and optical flow technology.

Additionally, the developer states that this Immortals of Aveum version enhances support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) across platforms and displays, which should help with frame pacing and tearing problems.

Following the update, the PC version of Immortals of Aveum also supports VRR and offers better visual quality now.

An early iteration of AMD’s technology was utilized in the FSR 3 implementation of this game. In many cases, this iteration of FSR provided players with a subpar experience.

With the release of version 1.0.6.4, this issue has since been fixed, and support for HDR on PC has been added. On the other hand, the game now supports Nvidia’s updated DLSS 3.7 technology for those with Nvidia RTX GPUs.

Thanks to enhanced upscaling, Immortals of Aveum should now seem better across all platforms. Frame Generation will benefit console players for the first time, allowing displays with VRR support to run this Unreal Engine 5 title at better and smoother framerates.

We also expect other games to follow suit, rapidly expanding the library of FSR 3 supported games on the console platforms.
