Perfect Dark Also Likely To Show Up!

Story Highlight
  • An insider has pointed to id Software’s next Doom game showing up at this year’s Xbox Showcase.
  • Another source states that Perfect Dark is likely to be a part of this event.
  • The development of Perfect Dark appears to be going smoother than expected.

The annual Xbox Games Showcase is upon us. As always, this event comes with the promise of new looks at previously revealed games and brand-new reveals. It seems Xbox will have a nice balance of both this year.

According to insiders, the gaming giant is set to unveil a new Doom entry at the showcase. Furthermore, it seems The Initiative’s Perfect Dark is also ready for a new look after several years.

Why it matters: Both franchises serve as major first-party IPs for Xbox and could end up generating a wave of excitement that Xbox could use after the recent negativity around its brand.

The Xbox Showcase is scheduled for June, and various insiders have already begun to offer teasers for this event. One recent tease comes from Xbox insider Tom Warren.

Reporting on The Verge, the insider pointed to id Software’s next reveal with a statement hoping for new announcements at June’s showcase.

Microsoft will be banking on new game announcements lifting the Doom around Xbox.

Since ‘Doom’ was written with a particular focus in this statement and id Software’s next game has already been teased for the showcase, it seems all but guaranteed that fans are set to receive another outing as they take on the role of the Doom Slayer.

Doom Eternal is still the latest entry in this series, marking four years since id Software shifted its focus to new projects. With how exciting this release ended up being, fans are anticipating the future of Doom with high hopes.

Elsewhere, another insider has teased that Xbox will reveal a new look at Perfect Dark next month. This reboot hasn’t received a follow-up trailer since its first reveal in 2020, so Microsoft is likely to have something more substantial than a teaser or cinematic trailer.

While recent reports suggested that work on the project had not been the smoothest, insider Nate The Hate states that those reports are likely to be outdated. Therefore, Perfect Dark could become yet another highlight of the event.

Between Doom and Perfect Dark, Xbox already has two major projects to highlight at the showcase. However, reports also point to the first look at Gears 6, which may end up being one of this generation’s best-looking Unreal Engine 5 titles.

Since Microsoft now owns multiple studios, Xbox may have other reveals planned for Summer Game Fest, as well. Ultimately, it is difficult to predict everything that may show up at the event, but it’s certainly shaping up to be a showcase worth looking forward to.
