'PS5 Pro Exclusive Graphics Mode' Requirements Have Surfaced!

Story Highlights
  • Details about the requirements for games to be certified ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ have surfaced.
  • The console will reportedly target 4K resolution at 60 FPS with ray tracing using PSSR.
  • This is possible due to faster RAM and a GPU, which is about 50% faster than the base PS5.

As the launch of the PS5 Pro draws nearer, more information is starting to surface. Insider Gaming has now revealed requirements given to developers to title their games as ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced,’ and they are certainly interesting.

The console reportedly targets 60FPS along with ray tracing for the complete experience.

Why it matters: The console doesn’t sound like much of an upgrade from the specs sheet. It keeps the same Zen2 CPU but with higher clocks and various other enhancements. Still, Sony seems to be adamant that it’s going to be a worthy upgrade over the base hardware.

The label ‘Enhanced’ isn’t new for PlayStation. In fact, it was first introduced with the launch of the PS4 Pro. Games that were designed to take full advantage of the hardware get this label, and the same will be the case with PS5 Pro.

Here are the requirements for a game to be certified with this label.

  • PSSR to upscale resolution to 4K
  • A constant 60FPS
  • Add or increase ray tracing effects

If the PS5 Pro can indeed push 4K at 60 FPS with ray tracing, it might just turn out to be a decent upgrade. This is certainly possible now, as the console won’t be running 4K native; it will use the new upscaling PSSR tech to achieve the desired results.

According to the source, the target is possible due to faster RAM and a GPU that is 45-50% faster than the base PS5.

Moreover, games can be called ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ if they have increased target resolutions compared to the base PS5, improved target FPS, and PS5 Pro ray tracing effects.

PlayStation is expected to showcase these features best in its own exclusive titles. Experts also believe that the likes of GTA 6 might not run at 60FPS if this option is non-existent in the base console.

Both the PS5 Pro and GTA 6 are now approaching their release dates. The latter recently got a promising update, with an insider stating that Rockstar is not concerned about a delay to 2026.

This also means that Sony is preparing for this inevitable record-breaking launch.
