- Insomniac Games’ leak shows Spider-Man 3 will be divided into two parts.
- The first game will be accompanied by a standalone multiplayer title.
- This game will be priced at $49.99, and Insomniac will include it in a bundle in 2029, pairing it with both Spider-Man 3 parts.
This week has been tough for PlayStation and especially for Insomniac Games. The developer suffered from a massive data leak recently, which revealed details about Wolverine, a new Venom game in 2025, and an X-Men game in 2030.
The leak also indicates that Spider-Man 3 will not only be a single-player title but will also include a standalone multiplayer title launching simultaneously.
Why this matters: Since the 2018 release of Spider-Man, Insomniac Games has received requests for a multiplayer Spider-Man game, and it appears that they have finally listened to the fans.
Spider-Man 3 will be divided into two parts.
Part 1 and Part 2 will each retail for $49.99 and be released a year apart, with Part 1 coming out in Holiday 2027 and Part 2 in Holiday 2028. Day & date with the first part, a multiplayer standalone game, will debut at $49.99.
In addition, a combo including all the games is expected to arrive in 2029 for a price of $59.99. The presentation suggests dividing the games into two parts is the better course of action, with Insomniac predicting 29 million sales with this strategy, compared to 15 million for a single release.
This strategy appears similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe approach. Marvel divided the Avengers saga into multiple parts, with the final clash against Thanos being depicted in two separate films.
Previously, Insomniac Games teased a similar narrative for Spider-Man 3, comparing it to Avengers. This may have been a hint toward a connected saga since the Venom spin-off will also lead into the events of Spider-Man 3.
Apart from these three titles, Insomniac Games canceled an MMO-style online game, Spider-Man: The Great Web. Internally pitched as ‘GTA Online with Spider-Man,’ this project might be reworked into the company’s next multiplayer attempt in 2027.
Video game creators have had a difficult year dealing with large-scale data leaks. In a significant data breach from late 2022, plenty of GTA 6 footage surfaced online.
Another leak from Microsoft disclosed a great deal about Xbox plans, including remasters of Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls 4. Much like these events, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has leaked all over the internet.
While under different circumstances, these leaks all come with similar challenges. Insomniac Games is the latest developer to face these difficulties, and we hope they are the last in a long while.
