Pulls Ahead In GPU Results!

Prior to its official launch on December 14, benchmark results of the upcoming Intel Core Ultra 7 155H were revealed, showing somewhat poor performance compared to the competition.

Tested by user Corbcas, the laptop with the 155H configuration showed good integrated GPU performance in 3DMark Time Spy but subpar CPU performance in Cinebench R23.

Intel is also developing faster and more powerful Meteor Lake chips, with the 155H being one of them. Given that the only other higher-end CPU to have leaked thus far is the Core Ultra 9 185H, the 155H may be the second-fastest H-class CPU Intel offers this generation.

The Ryzen 7 7840HS “Phoenix” and Core i5-13500H “Raptor Lake” CPUs were pitted against the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H in terms of performance. The Intel Core Ultra 7 155H features a mixture of 6 performance, 8 efficient, and 2 low-powered cores.

The chip also features 24MB of L3 cache with base and boost frequencies of 3.8 GHz and 4.8 GHz, respectively.

While the CPU performance is not great compared to the competition, in Time Spy, things appear more promising. The Intel Core Ultra 7 155H features the fastest integrated graphics by far, outperforming the 780M graphics found in the 7840HS by 20%.

Battery Life is the last and most significant metric that was examined. In this case, the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS “Zen 4” CPU completely destroyed the Meteor Lake CPUs by providing significantly longer battery life (minutes) for standby, video playback, and browsing.

While the battery results are not so promising compared to the competition, the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H features a dedicated media engine responsible for offloading tasks like media playback to lower-powered E cores.

Taking this into account, it might be a feature that is not yet supported on the laptop model of the reviewer.
