Counter-Strike 2 Is Already Valve’s Worst-Rated Release

Nearly 1 Million Negative Reviews on Steam!

After dominating competitive FPS games for 11 years, CS:GO has been retired after being replaced by Counter-Strike 2. This game is the latest offering from Valve, having made its debut on Steam nearly two weeks ago.

However, the game has not seen a warm reception. Following the title’s release, it has been bombarded with negative reviews by Steam users and now has nearly one million negative reviews on the platform.

Why it matters: Unlike other companies, Valve has replaced its last hit with Counter-Strike 2. This has led to negative sentiments from players who have not found the latest release as enjoyable as CS:GO.

At the time of writing, Counter-Strike 2 has already gathered over 900K negative reviews on Steam. However, as stated earlier, Valve replaced CS:GO with this game, so all the previous reviews are still intact.

The game has been bombarded with negative reviews for multiple reasons. At present, players have faced numerous bugs and glitches, hindering them from enjoying the traditional CS experience.

The legacy of CS:GO has also become a blemish for Counter-Strike 2. Players are not happy with the forced shift to a new game, suggesting a standalone release would have been the better move.

Like the past game, Valve’s newest Counter-Strike offering has no shortage of hackers. Due to its free-to-play nature, Counter-Strike 2 has attracted many hackers, leading to further frustration among players.

Apart from casual players, pro players currently believe CS:GO remains the better game. However, such players are hopeful that changes and updates will catapult the new Counter-Strike release to similar heights in the future.

We find the current situation around Valve and its iconic franchise quite surprising. Traditionally, Valve has been one of the fan-favorite publishers, but its latest decisions appear to have upset its thriving community.

Valve has also dropped support for macOS with the latest release, further highlighting a small step backward compared to CS:GO.
