Alan Wake 2 is currently the most significant project for Remedy Entertainment, and the game has been delayed by ten days to keep it away from competitors like Spider-Man 2 and ensure it receives the attention it deserves.
With the game being one month away from its release, Remedy Entertainment has shared extensive narrative and gameplay details about Alan Wake 2 recently, including an exciting update about the frame rate targets.
Alan Wake 2 will feature a performance mode on Xbox Series X and PS5.
Why it matters: 60FPS is the standard for console gaming in 2023, and major AAA studios are expected to release games that deliver this frame rate target at release.
I’m glad to say that Alan Wake 2 will have a Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The game has been built from the beginning as a 30fps experience focusing on visuals and ambiance, but somehow we have managed to include a solid Performance mode. We’ll talk details later.

The Communications Director at Remedy Entertainment, Thomas Puha, has confirmed that the most capable current-generation consoles will include a solid performance mode.
He pointed out that Alan Wake 2 was built as a 30FPS experience from the beginning, likely due to its slower and cinematic nature. However, performance mode has now been added to the horror game.
Since the developer did not mention the Xbox Series S, it appears the budget console will be limited to 30FPS, potentially leaving room for a future update to add 60FPS for the cheaper console like other games.
Still tweaking that.

When Puha was asked whether the game would be locked at 60FPS, he replied that Remedy Entertainment is still tweaking the performance mode, suggesting that the mode is a work in progress.
Apart from the announcement, more details for the game are on the way. Recently, the developers have invited content creators to a preview event, and fans can expect early impressions in just a few hours.
Recent releases like Gotham Knights and Redfall have been criticized for being limited to 30FPS on current-generation consoles.
Therefore, Alan Wake 2 may have faced similar criticism, but Remedy Entertainment’s latest announcement has ensured that the studio will not be repeating the same mistake.
