"We Do All We Can To Accommodate Them"

Story Highlight
  • Starfield DLC Shattered Space DLC launched to negative reviews on Steam.
  • The fandom, as well as the critics, have criticised the DLC a lot.
  • The game’s lead writer has spoken against the backlash, saying that the team is proud of the game and is doing everything to accommodate the fans, but they want a lot.

After the successful launch of Starfield last year, Bethesda is very proud of this game. The developer even claimed that it is right next to the likes of Elder Scrolls and Fallout. While the game received a mixed reception from the fans, some were waiting for its DLC to drop.

However, Shattered Space DLC received mostly negative reviews on Steam, highlighting that fans were not satisfied. The DLC received a really poor score of 59 on Metacritic, and the fandom also criticised it due to the price tag and disappointing narrative.

However, the lead writer has spoken against the backlash and said that the fans want a lot

Why it matters: The developer should prioritize listening to their fandom and making the appropriate changes to the game. Given the scope of and past reception of Starfield, it would be fair for fans to want something better.

Starfield DLC Backlash
The Lead Writer of Starfield Speaks Against The DLC Backlash on Twitter

Emil Pagliarulo shared an interview on Twitter, and one user shared their thoughts on the DLC. The user talked about a lot of things, and Pagliarulo tried to address each and every concern. He did speak against the backlash, saying that Shattered Space is something he and the team are proud of

I’m also very proud of Shattered Space. We all are.

-Emil Pagliarulo

Pagliarulo also talks about how long they have spent addressing the community’s concerns and fixing them. While he said the team would continue to do so, he thinks that even though the team tries to accommodate fans, they just want a lot.

Maybe it’s a game of expectations. Fans want a lot, and we do all we can to accommodate them.

He then talks about how no one at Bethesda is patting themselves on the back for ignoring the fandom. Pagliarulo further states that Starfield is a massive game, so it will take them time to address the issues. According to him, fixing a game like Starfield is very tricky, as every fix could potentially break something else.

Nonetheless, he insists that those who liked the base game try out Shattered Space, as Pagliarulo thinks they are missing out on a lot. We hope the issues in the base game and DLC are fixed quickly so the fandom can have a better experience.
