2023 has blessed the industry with many surprise hits, and one of them was Remnant 2. The title was released in the last week of July and quickly became popular on all platforms.
Reaching nearly 110K players on Steam at launch, it performed above expectations. Embracer Group’s latest report confirms that it has sold over 2 million units worldwide now.
Why it matters: This game has been much more successful than its predecessor, possibly opening up the option for Gunfire Games to explore a third game and more content than initially planned.
Recently, Embracer Group released an interim report for quarter 2, from July to September. The report provides more insight into various games, including Remnant 2.
The game sold over 1 million units one week after its release. Two months later, it sold an additional million copies to cross the 2 million sales milestone. It should be noted that this report only shares sales information documented till September.
Therefore, Remnant 2 may have gathered more sales by now. Furthermore, Embracer Group states the game has generated over $66 million in net sales this quarter.
Days before Embracer Group shared this positive update, Gunfire Games released The Awakened King, the first expansion for the game.
Like Remnant 2, this DLC has received positive reactions, expanding the popular game to new players. The title already offered hundreds of hours of content, so this DLC serves to expand an already complete package.
Lasting around 5 hours, this $10 DLC has been enticing enough for reviewers to encourage multiple playthroughs. Therefore, for this asking price, Remnant 2 is offering much more than most DLC releases.
Two more DLC packs are scheduled to arrive in 2024, adding new boss fights, levels, and stories for players to explore. Therefore, the game still has a lot of life left.
