Black Myth: Wukong Won GOTY At Thailand Game Awards 2024

Won 4 Major Awards!

Story Highlight
  • Black Myth: Wukong has won GOTY at the Thailand Game Awards 2024.
  • Along with that, it has won Best Action Game, Best Gane Direction, and Best PC/Console Game Awards.
  • Other games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, The Land Between Us, FC 24, and Zenless Zone Hero have won a major award each.

Black Myth: Wukong is arguably the biggest hit of 2024. It is the most-played single-player game ever on Steam and has garnered a massive fandom. Given how many players played this game, its rating on Steam is overwhelmingly positive.

So, over 95% of players enjoyed the game, but its metascore isn’t that impressive. The game received low scores due to not having enough diversity and inclusivity, but despite that, it won the most prestigious award at the Thailand Game Awards 2024

Why it matters: Black Myth: Wukong surprised everyone at launch, but the Western media didn’t really appreciate the game that much. It won the Game of the Year Award at a major event despite that.

As you can see in the image above, the Chinese Action RPG is Game of the Year 2024. Not only that, but it also won Best Action Game, Best Game Direction, and Best PC/Console Game Awards.

This isn’t surprising, given how great the game actually is. It has many bosses that rival the bosses of FromSoftware games, and that is not a stretch. The developers curated a masterpiece on Unreal Engine 5 within 6 years with a very limited budget

Keeping that in mind, it seems to deserve winning such awards. Other games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth won the Best RPG Game Award, The Land Beneath Us won the Best Thai Game Award, FC24 won Best Sports Game, and Zenless Zone Zero won Best Mobile Game.

However, many might take this seriously as the main GOTY award is given at The Game Awards. It will go live in December, and while Wukong seems to be a strong contender, it might not win

What do you think of the Action RPG winning the Game of the Year Award at one of the major events? Do you think it deserves all those awards? Let us know in the comments section below, or join the discussion on Tech4Gamers’ official forums.
