Recurring Unreal Engine 5 Issues Are Getting Tiring, Say Analysts

Breathtaking Visuals Come At A Cost!

Story Highlight
  • Unreal Engine 5 has been criticised a lot due to constant stuttering in games.
  • The stuttering is a price to pay for mind-blowing and realistic graphics.
  • That said, analysts are now tired of these recurring issues in almost every single UE5 game.

Unreal Engine 5 is perhaps the most complicated technology to run properly but using it leads to jaw-dropping visuals matching real life. UE5 is user-friendly as it is easy to use and learn, but it by no means is easy to master.

There might not be a game built on UE5 that doesn’t have performance issues. These recurring issues in games that are built via this technology are annoying and should be dealt with. Popular analysts seem to have similar reactions to this technology.

Why it matters: Almost every single game built via this tech has a lot of performance issues, and the stuttering gets super annoying.

Digital Foundry was asked whether the crew was feeling any Unreal Engine 5 fatigue. Alexander Battaglia replied to this question by saying he is indeed fatigued by the constant problems of this engine while using STALKER 2 as a recent example.

I am actually a bit tired of Unreal already, but maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel after the game starts shipping with UE5.4+ everywhere.

Oliver Mackenzie also added his two cents to the conversation. He thinks comprises in Lumen can stand out a lot in the Unreal Engine 5 games, which is pretty much clear in games like STALKER 2. While the games built using this technology look absolutely breathtaking, they have a lot of performance issues.

STALKER 2 Is The Latest Example of How Troublesome UE5 Can Be

Silent Hill 2, Black Myth: Wukong, and STALKER 2 are the latest examples. That said, despite the concerns regarding this engine, a lot of developers are shiting to it for their next game.

CDPR is not only moving to the engine but also working with Epic Games to improve it for the Witcher 4, and Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. Due to that, analysts believe the next Witcher will fix the UE5’s stuttering problem

Final Fantasy 7 Remake final part and Stellar Blade sequel might also be switching to this engine.

All in all, fans aren’t really fond of UE5, as they have even named it the stuttering engine. What do you think of the stutters in Unreal Engine 5?
