Ubisoft Has Lost Over 80% of Its Value In Past 5 Years

With Over 20k Employees Ubisoft Situation Is Now Serious!

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft was one of the best developers back in the golden age of gaming.
  • However, the developer has stopped listening to its fandom and caters to the modern audience.
  • Due to recent failures, the giant has lost 80% of its value in the past few years, and the situation seems to be getting even worse.

Ubisoft was once a powerhouse in the gaming industry. The studio was mainly known for the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry Series. However, these aren’t the only iconic franchises from this developer.

Back people really liked Ubisoft’s work, but now things are a lot different. It has been years since this developer made a good game, and it is hurting the brand. After a lot of poor releases, Ubisoft has lost 80% of its value in the last five years, and the situation seems to be getting worse.

Why it matters: Lately, Ubisoft hasn’t been implementing feedback from the fans and is focusing way too much on the modern audience.

Ubisoft Stock
Ubisoft Stock Plummets By Over 80% In Past Five Years

It is no wonder why Ubisoft is in this condition. Having the stock value drop by over 80% is nowhere near close to being ideal. This is the consequence of not listening to a dedicated fandom that has been playing its games forever.

The recent Assassin’s Creed Mirage didn’t really click with the fandom, so the developer should aim to create a better game. However, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows is already the most criticised game of 2024, and it hasn’t been released yet.

The game is still the centre of criticism, and this controversy isn’t going to end anytime soon. Regarding its latest game, Star Wars Ourlaws, it has proven to be a failure. The director isn’t happy with the review scores, and the stocks saw a massive dip.

Ubisoft is currently in a very concerning situation, and this is likely to escalate. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed game is unlikely to save the developer. We do hope the gaming giant recovers from this situation, as it would be sad to see an iconic developer going down.

Ubisoft is also focusing on Assassin’s Creed Remakes, and if it doesn’t alter the game to satisfy the modern audience, then it has a chance to make a comeback. The giant houses over 20K employees, so the situation is pretty serious right now. We might get to see major layoffs soon, too.
