Original Story: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The grand and immersive experience of open-world RPG was appreciated and got critical acclaim. Despite some lack in the technical department, the visuals and intriguing story of the game made it the most popular game of the series selling over 40 million copies worldwide as of April 2022.
CD Projekt Red back in 2020 announced a next-gen upgrade for the most beloved game of the series. The goal of the upgrade was to make it a visual aesthetic on the next-gen consoles and make it more immersive and realistic than before with RayTracing support and other features.
Fans were hooked, but unfortunately, the upgrade faced multiple delays due to the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, which got the devs team at CDPR busy fixing the CP 2077.
In April 2022, The Witcher 3 Next-Gen was delayed for the 2nd time for an indefinite period, and CDPR also revealed that The Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade is now in-house, and the lead is taken from Saber Interactive. Saber Interactive were initially working on the upgrade.
However, in May 2022, CDPR slated The Witcher 3: Next-Gen upgrade shortly after the delay for a Q4-2022 release window without any confirmed release date. Now, we are in the Q4 of 2022, and only 47 days are left till the year-end, and there is no official statement from the studios about the release date of the upgrade.
Let's make this 7th anniversary even better, shall we?
We're delighted to share that the Next Gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is planned to release in Q4 2022.

Other than these hints, a Reddit user who claimed to be working at GAME store UK leaked a list of upcoming games in October.
And in the list, The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition was listed to release on 9th December 2022. However, the Reddit user deleted the list shortly after sharing.
Interestingly, the leaked release date is very close to The Game Awards 2022, and it is the very next day of the Awards, as The Game Awards are kicking off on 8th December 2022.
So, The Witcher 3 Next-Gen upgrade might be revealed at The Game Awards 2022, as the rumors and hints from CDPR suggest it will be revealed soon. Only time can tell how the studio is planning to launch the upgrade.
Other than that, The Witcher 1 Remake and a new Witcher Saga are already confirmed that fans are looking forward to. What are your thoughts about The Witcher 3 Next-Gen upgrade? Will it be revealed at The Game Awards 2022? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
