The franchise started by releasing the first Assassin’s Creed game in November 2007; the rest is history. The franchise has gained massive popularity and a solid fan base all around the globe over 15 years. The latest installment in the series is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which was released in 2020.
The franchise was diverted to a new direction, with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey focusing more on the RPG elements of the game and slightly moving away from the game’s stealth mechanics that made Assassin’s Creed unique. Still, the fans showed incredible support for the game and, despite some initial criticism, hoped for the best from the devs.
The series is also an essential asset for Ubisoft; as of September 2022, the franchise has sold over 200 million copies worldwide. This year was also packed with multiple upcoming Assassin’s Creed games unveiled on Ubisoft Forward 2022.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the one the fans are looking forward to the most as the game claimed to revisit the franchise’s roots by coming back to the stealthier approach. Other than the Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Project Jade, Project Red, and Project Hexe were also revealed this year, assuring the fans that they have a ton of Assassin’s Creed content to enjoy in the future.
Not only new Assassin’s Creed games were revealed, but a new platform specially designed for Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, was also announced at the Ubisoft Forward this year which will serve as a single platform to access all the Assassin’s Creed games.
Ubisoft recently also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Invictus is developing a multiplayer experience for Assassin’s Creed fans. Furthermore, recent rumors suggest that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla could be coming to Steam and Xbox Game Pass to reach more players and new audiences worldwide. And soon, nearly all Assassin’s Creed games will be available on PlayStation Plus Extra.
Undoubtedly there is a lot for the fans of the franchise to experience that will be coming out soon and will take the Assassin’s Creed franchise to greater heights.
