A Petition To Fix The Game Also Reached 200K Signatures!

Story Highlight
  • Team Fortress 2 has fallen to mostly negative reviews for the first time since launch after over 15K negative reviews.
  • The game is facing a bot problem, making it nearly unplayable.
  • Fans hope to gain Valve’s attention after these reviews.

Team Fortress 2 is one of Valve’s most successful releases. While the title was released nearly two decades ago, it remains one of the most-played shooters on Steam every day.

Last year, this shooter recorded its highest number of players to date, showing signs of even more life. However, Team Fortress 2 seems to have become nearly unplayable over the past few months.

Currently, the game has fallen to mostly negative reviews on Steam.

Why it matters: Recently, games like Helldivers 2 went through a similar situation, with the community using review bombing as a force for good.

As seen above, Team Fortress 2 has received over 20K reviews in the last 30 days, and only 27% are positive. This suggests the game received around 15K negative reviews over the previous month.

It should be noted that these numbers are likely to increase as more players engage with the reviews in an attempt to gain Valve’s attention. This is also the first time the shooter has fallen to ‘mostly negative’ reviews since its launch.

Most of the review players complained that Valve has abandoned the franchise for so long and doesn’t care about its community.

A fun game has become incredibly boring.

Fans are frustrated since the game has seen disruptive bots being made and is full of cheaters, making it difficult to enjoy the title. While these recent activities are gaining traction, Valve has yet to respond.

A petition to save the tile has also gathered over 200K signatures, suggesting the community is tired of the current situation.

It should be noted that a similar thing happened over two years ago. Team Fortress 2 became almost unplayable, and the fans started a trend to save the title. After that, Valve quickly released an update to fix the issues.

Therefore, it’s likely that the fans are waiting for similar treatment from the developers. Valve is likely to notice the recent reviews, as this franchise is one of the studio’s beloved IPs.
