Switch 2 Overheating Issue Still Hasn’t Been Resolved 2 Months After Launch

Manufacturer Advises To Use It In A Location Between 5–35°C!

Story Highlight
  • The controversy surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 overheating issue continues to escalate two months after its launch.
  • The manufacturer has responded to these reports and asked the users to only use the console in locations with temperatures between 5 °C and 35 °C.
  • So, if the temperature is higher outside, consumers should avoid using it there.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling console of all time, but it has also attracted a lot of controversy. The console’s display and some other aspects have received criticism from the fandom, but that didn’t stop it from breaking records.

However, last month, many reports surfaced online, revealing a particular issue with the handheld. The reports revealed that the Switch 2 would randomly shut down while playing games, mainly due to overheating. These reports are still ongoing, even two months after release, and the manufacturer has finally provided a solution, but it isn’t that practical.

Why it matters: A console that randomly overheats and shuts down is a massive red flag. The console has already sold around 6 million units, so it could result in a much bigger controversy if this continues.

Nintendo, on X, has revealed the potential cause for the overheating of the console and what to do to prevent it.

The manufacturer says to use it only between 5 °C and 35 °C. So, if anyone wants to use the console for any reason outside and the temperature is below 5 °C or above 35 °C, then it can malfunction.

When using a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 in a high-temperature environment, the device’s temperature may rise. This could potentially cause malfunctions, so please use it in a location between 5–35°C.

Recently, in Japan, the temperature has been rising above 35°C, so the company recommends being cautious when using it outdoors.

Users should also avoid leaving the console in closed places outside, like in a car, as high temperatures can lead to internal overheating, which can cause serious consequences.

That said, the consumers have some other concerns, too.

One user reports that when playing in TV mode with the device docked and then switching to handheld mode by unplugging it, the fan’s speed becomes abnormally high, causing air to be exhausted. However, that isn’t the cause in the TV mode.
