The game was ineligible for the Game Awards 2024 due to its late release date. However, it is still in the running for prestigious recognition at the Steam Awards 2024, securing nominations in three major categories: Game of the Year, Most Innovative Gameplay, and Outstanding Story-Rich Game.
Why it matters: GSC Game World has evidently poured a lot of effort into Stalker 2. Although missing the Game Awards was surely disappointing, these Steam Awards nominations undoubtedly validate the dedication and passion behind the title.
Voting for the Steam Awards 2024 has not yet begun, but it will soon from December 19 – 31, users would be eligible to vote for their favourite title that they deem best for the award it has been nominated for.
Many have high hopes for Stalker 2 due to its compelling narrative and impressive visuals, and the title has even gotten praise from Phil Spencer. However, its future success remains uncertain, and we’ll have to wait to see the results.
Other games that have been nominated for the Game of the Year alongside Stalker 2 include Black Myth: Wukong, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Helldivers 2, and Balatro.
While fans and developers remain optimistic, the competition won’t be easy, as Black Myth: Wukong and Helldivers 2 have also emerged as standout titles of 2024.
