Spider-Man 2 Dev Claims The World May Not Be Prepared For The Game

2023 is the year that keeps on giving great games, showing no signs of stopping. However, the year is not over, and many games are still yet to be released, with games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 expected to conclude 2023 on a great note.

Insomniac Games has already shared a lot of information about the game, including 10 minutes of uncut gameplay and a story trailer. The studio is also releasing custom PS5 faceplates and a DualSense for the game.

Leading up to the launch, a developer’s statement has added to the excitement surrounding the PS5 title. According to the developer, the world may not be prepared for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Why it matters: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is among the first major first-party titles built for the PS5. Recent games like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West were somewhat handicapped by a PS4 release, but this is not the case for Spider-Man.

The Director of Sound Design at Insomniac Games made a LinkedIn post appreciating the team that worked hard to bring Spider-Man’s upcoming adventure on the PS5 console to life. Jeremie Voillot stated:

“I’m not sure the world is quite prepared for what they are about to release.”

He also believes that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 marks Insomniac Games’ best work to date and said:

“It’s stunning and their best work yet.”

This statement has plenty of great implications since Insomniac Games is already known for quality releases.

In the last seven years, games from the Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank IPs have been extremely well received, but this also sets a high benchmark for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to meet.

The studio has yet to release a recent title that receives the prestigious score above 90/100 on Metacritic, but the developer’s statement hints that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 may be the game that achieves this score for Insomniac Games.

Following the excitement for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, games like Alan Wake 2 and Alone in the Dark have also been delayed to avoid competition with the release.

Therefore, the stage is set for Insomniac Games to deliver a worthy first-party addition to the growing library of the PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also became the best-selling title on Amazon recently, pointing to the growing excitement as the October 20 release date draws nearer.
