Double Downs On The Sentiment!

Story Highlight
  • Astro Bot was crowned Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024.
  • Due to that, Shroud claimed that TGA was rigged as he expected Black Myth: Wukong to win.
  • He previously stated that if Black Myth: Wukong doesn’t win GOTY, then the event is rigged, and he recently doubled down on that.

TGA was recently held, and it revealed a ton of surprises. While fans loved the overall show, many were disappointed that Astro Bot had taken home the most prestigious award.

Fans think that Black Myth: Wukong deserved the GOTY award, and it seems like one of the legendary streamers had a similar sentiment. Shroud, a renowned streamer, recently called The Game Awards ‘rigged’ because Black Myth: Wukong didn’t win the Game of the Year award.

Why it matters: Many expected the Chinese action RPG to win the award, but given how the critics treated it, it was pretty much a given that it wouldn’t.

Michael Grzesiek, AKA Shroud, previously said that if Black Myth: Wukong doesn’t win GOTY, then TGA is rigged. So, given that the title didn’t win the GOTY award, Shroud doubles down on calling it rigged again

Many fans agree with the streamer, and some even went as far as saying that ‘Sony paid for this win.’ Fans were already pretty upset with the jury selection, so it might be fair for them to assume that there was some bias.

So, the failure of the Chinese action RPG to win GOTY has caused a major uproar in the industry. However, many are glad that Astro Bot won the award, as they claim it is ‘charming and creative.’

A lot of gamers think that the jury selection for GOTY selection isn’t the right answer as fans should have more say in the matter.

That said, the GOTY has already been crowned, so Wukong fans should make peace with it. Instead of criticising the title, it is better to play it and see the hype for yourself.
