PS5 Pro Even Offers Great Ray Tracing and A 120 FPS Mode!

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil Requiem is masterfully optimized for consoles across the board.
  • The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S manage to deliver a smooth, solid 60 FPS experience.
  • PS5 Pro is a huge upgrade with better visuals, ray tracing, and 120 FPS support.

Resident Evil Requiem reviews dropped yesterday, and it managed to score the highest Metacritic score in the series in over 20 years. Capcom has also absolutely nailed it with optimization, which is an issue for most modern releases.

Testing reveals how fantastic Resident Evil Requiem is for all consoles, even the Xbox Series S, which is usually considered the bottleneck. But the PS5 Pro is where it shines the most with a dedicated ray tracing mode.

Why it matters: In a world where optimization remains the biggest challenge for most studios, Capcom has done a brilliant job. It even utilizes the full potential of the PS5 Pro, which most studios skip.

Digital Foundry has dropped its in-depth analysis of Resident Evil Requiem for consoles. This is one of those rare occasions when a game is genuinely an upgrade on the PS5 Pro compared to the base console.

The Pro console has 2 modes: Ray Tracing On and Ray Tracing Off. The difference ray tracing makes is insane with super high resolution, brilliant lighting, and reflections. The other mode offers 120 FPS, but at a lower resolution.

The game offers smooth gameplay across the board

The game is also perfect on PS5 and Xbox Series X, delivering great quality visuals, running at a solid 60 FPS, with minor to no frame drops. Even the Xbox Series S manages a very smooth 60 FPS experience.

However, the quality is notably worse on the latter. Despite this, Digital Foundry has praised how nicely it scales across the board. Anyhow, along with great reviews, Resident Evil Requiem also boasts great optimization.
