The Resident Evil 4 Remake was eagerly anticipated by fans, but it was well worth the wait when it was finally released on March 24. Both fans and critics perceived it amazingly, and it greatly exceeded expectations.
While many people are enjoying the remake of the classic game, the same can not be said for everybody because the game is currently being criticized for visual issues and unstable framerates on the PlayStation 4.
A recent Digital Foundry video shows that the PS4 and PS4 Pro were having the most trouble with it due to the game’s downgraded aesthetics, and framerate which fluctuated between 35 and 50, occasionally dropping below 30 on the PS4 Pro’s resolution mode.
As expected, PS4 suffers from lower-resolution textures and often struggles with texture streaming. Over on Reddit, users have also elaborated on their experience with the last-gen console.
Reddit user Sadistic_Loser complained about the PS4’s framerate, and the enemy movement resembling stop-motion animation. The user also noted the textures are not detailed enough.
Another user said that the sniper rifle is useless on the standard PS4 and that the framerate of the game appears to drop to single digits when scoped in.
Capcom also skipped the Xbox One console with the latest Resident Evil game, and this decision makes more sense after looking at the PS4 versions of the game.
While this may be unfortunate, it is not too surprising, as it has been almost 10 years since the PS4 hit the market, and it is way past its prime.
However, we hope a patch can address a few of these issues at some point in the near future. On that note, what do you think about the Resident Evil 4 Remake being criticized for not performing well on the PS4? Let us know in the comments section.
