Great Card For 1080p Gaming!

Story Highlight
  • Newegg has put up a stellar deal for the Radeon RX 5600 XT.
  • This graphics card is still a good option for 1080p gaming.
  • However, it lacks features like ray tracing and AV1 encoding.

The best graphics card isn’t always the newest or fastest model; often, the best graphics card is the least expensive one that fits within your budget. As an example, consider the ASRock Radeon RX 5600 XT, which is currently available for just $109.99 on Newegg.

The Radeon RX 5600 XT, based on RDNA architecture, represents a significant improvement over the earlier Vega and Polaris GPUs. However, this older architecture does lack the features that the newer generation of Radeon and GeForce cards offer.

On the hardware level, the Radeon RX 5600 XT lacks support for both AI acceleration and ray tracing. AV1 encoding is not supported either, and the video codec support is restricted to HEVC H.265 or AVC H.264.

That being said, the older Radeon RX 5600 XT can fight rather well against the current budget options at medium/high settings at 1080p, even if it can’t tackle the newest releases at maximum settings and high resolutions.

The card can output twice the performance of the GTX 1650, Radeon RX 6400, and the Intel Arc A380, all of which are currently more expensive. Presently, it’s undoubtedly the best budget option for just north of $100.

At this price, it can also be a valuable purchase option for those awaiting AMD and Nvidia’s next generation. More graphics cards are expected by the end of this year or early 2025, but the budget range is unlikely to arrive before mid-late 2025.

Even with its drawbacks, the Radeon RX 5600 XT is a great option for budget games. It can also be an impressive addition to eSports gaming PCs since most competitive games will run without much issue.

Users should note that while the card is listed as an RX 5600 on the Newegg page, the specs match those of the Radeon RX 5600 XT. Therefore, this seems to be an error on Newegg’s part.
