Story Highlight
  • Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake has a lot of excitement behind it.
  • Ubisoft Montreal has made some excellent progress on the game.
  • The team famous for games like Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs Legion has now joined the development.

After the successful launch of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, many have been anticipating the Sands of Time remake. Given how great the game was, there is a huge wave of nostalgic and new fans anticipating this release.

However, the remake has been through ups and downs since major changes have been made throughout development. First, the work was handed over to Ubisoft Montreal, who claimed to be making steady progress.

The game is also said to be rebuilt and rewritten. Now, Ubisoft Toronto has joined the development, with the studio claiming that the project has made excellent progress.

Why it matters: Before Assassin’s Creed, Prince of Persia was among Ubisoft’s biggest IPs, so its remake is anticipated by many classic fans of the developer.

Offering the latest update on the official website, the developer stated that the lead studio is doing well so far.

According to the developer, this remake aims to capture the magic of the original Sands of Time, offering acrobatics, sword fights, and a memorable story.

Interestingly, Ubisoft Toronto, the new developer helping with this remake, is also one of the publisher’s best teams. The Toronto-based developer previously worked on games like Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs: Legion.

This solid track record should inspire confidence among fans. However, Sands of Time Remake seems to be a bit further away from launch than most would like.

Ubisoft Toronto has likely ramped up the development of Splinter Cell and then moved to the remake. The development of Sands of Time Remake should go even better now, as Montreal was already making good progress.

2024 has been a major year for everyone at Ubisoft, so it is encouraging to see the developer making steady progress toward its future slate. Perhaps the team will even offer a small teaser for this remake at next week’s upcoming showcase.
