Call of Duty has been a favorite fan franchise for first-person shooters. Every new Game in the franchise is hyped by the CoD Community, and Modern Warfare 2 was no different, a sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare Reboot.

The Open beta for the upcoming FPS started on 16th September 2022 for PlayStation users and was available for Xbox and PC users from 22nd September 2022. The Open beta was extended over two weeks and got mixed reviews from the community.

The main concerns of the players were a large number of cheaters and hackers joining the beta along with some unheard wanted tweaks to the Game’s minimap by the developers. Still, the beta was a massive success for Activision and Infinity Ward and proved itself to be the biggest Call of Duty beta of all time, topping the Steam charts with 169000 concurrent players.

The Game was also the number one selling game on steam before Cyberpunk 2077 stole the throne with its comeback. The official Call of Duty Twitter account posted a summary of Open Beta, confirming that The Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta was the largest Open Beta; most hours played, most matches played, and most players joined the Open Beta.

The first part of the Game was the most sold Call of Duty Game ever, with over 30 million copies worldwide. The numbers in the Open Beta of the sequel are already very impressive, and it can easily surpass its predecessor with these numbers intact till launch.

Modern Warfare 2 will be officially released on 28th October 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the PC. One week before release, early access to the Campaign will be given to the players with pre-orders.
