Embracer Group says the game has sold over 8.5 million since its release in 2019. It also saw half a million sales in the first three months of 2023.
Additionally, the title has been played by over 10 million people. The game was previously included in subscription services like Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus Extra, which has likely contributed to this excellent figure.
Metro Exodus focuses on stealth and survival horror elements. Players must face mutated creatures and hostile humans as they deal with various hazards in the post-apocalyptic setting.
The title delivers exceptional visuals, with Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition also providing one of the best ray-tracing implementations with ray-traced global illumination for striking visuals.
Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition was released two years after the game initially launched, and it shined on PCs with hardware capable of handling the ray-tracing implementation. The developer also did a great job with the ray tracing on consoles.
Following this success, a sequel is developing, and sources claim it is already fully playable. This game will likely expand on the franchise’s post-apocalyptic setting and is expected to release in 2024 at some point.
